Suffering from Stomach Migraine? These 6 Foods Consumed

The name migraine may be familiar to the ear. However, what about abdominal migraines? As the name suggests, abdominal migraines occur in the stomach, not the head. However, stomach migraines often result from the same triggers as migraine headaches. Abdominal migraines can be excruciating and cause nausea, cramping, and vomiting.
Abdominal migraine is often experienced by infants and children. Children whose family members have a history of migraines are more at risk for developing this condition. Those with abdominal migraines also usually experience migraine headaches as they grow older.
Abdominal migraine is also usually experienced by young people who later will suffer from migraine attacks. However, severe abdominal pain can also occur in migraine attacks in adults. Sometimes these are called gastric migraines or migraines in the stomach.
Abdominal migraine often goes undiagnosed in adults. Therefore, when adult men and women experience symptoms, other syndromes or disorders will be considered first, such as intestinal syndrome, acid reflux, or lactose intolerance.
What are the Symptoms?
The first signs and symptoms of an abdominal migraine are a pain in the center of the body or around the belly button (rather than on the sides), which doctors call midline abdominal pain. Some of the other signs and symptoms of this condition can include:
- Nausea or vomiting.
- Pale or red skin.
- Yawning, drowsiness, or lack of energy.
- Loss of appetite or not being able to eat.
- Dark circles under the eyes.
Abdominal migraines often occur suddenly and are quite severe and without warning signs. The pain may go away after an hour, or it can last up to 3 days.

Overcome with Nutritious Food
People with abdominal migraines need to adopt healthy habits such as daily exercise, getting enough sleep, managing stress, and eating nutritious or fibrous foods. The types of nutritious foods to choose from are:
1. Wheat and Grains
Foods such as bread and cereals usually contain good fiber content in the body, and the content can be tolerated to be digested deeper in the stomach. Grains high in fiber, such as brown rice, barley, quinoa, and oatmeal, can help smooth the flow of digested food in the stomach.
2. High-Protein Foods
Most foods for stomach pain, such as meat and fish, can be digested well by the stomach. However, it would be better if the choice of meat consumed was rich in protein and low in fat. For example, low-fat meat without skin or fish is full of the benefits of protein in it.
3. Broccoli
This one vegetable, broccoli, is basically good for stomachache food. Broccoli contains a chemical called sulforaphane. This substance helps kill Helicobacter pylori (a harmful bacteria) because it has antibacterial properties.
A 2009 study published in the journal Cancer Prevention Research showed some people whose digestive tract contains Helicobacter pylori. If the person eats food containing half a cup of broccoli per day for 2 months, it can help reduce stomach pain. This has an inverse effect on people who rarely eat broccoli because the intake does not get sulforaphane which can help smooth digestion in the stomach.
4. Banana and Melon
Bananas and melons are fruits with low acidity. Both of these fruits are highly recommended for consumption by people with gastric disorders because they help stabilize the beginning of stomach acid. In addition, other fruits with low acidities, such as apples and pears.
5. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera plant is known as a natural herb and also a remedy for gastric disorders. Aloe vera is available in supplement form or can be taken immediately after cooking. Aloe vera can reduce the risk of heartburn and prevent excess stomach acid production. This herbal plant also contains anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidants.
6. Celery
Celery has almost no calories due to its high water content and is a good choice for nutrition if you have acid reflux or other stomach disorders. In addition, celery can also be used as an appetite suppressant and an excellent fiber source.
